Welcome
How to choose summer tires?
When spring comes on the street, the ambient temperature rises above +7 Celsius, it's time to think about changing your car's winter tires to summer ones. Ordinary people have two factors of choice: price and general demand, that is, if Petya and Vasya bought, then I will buy, but not everything is as simple as it seems. Find more here: high performance summer tires
Consider a few basic parameters besides price and popularity that affect the choice of summer tires.
Tread type.
So, all summer tires differ in the type and type of tread pattern. There are several main figures:
Asymmetric - more expensive, but provide excellent traction. Such tires are distinguished by higher performance characteristics, such as a sufficiently low noise level, prevention of aquaplaning, increased rolling resistance;
Symmetrical is the classic version.
In turn, a symmetrical and asymmetric pattern can be:
Directional, - practically silent tires, are distinguished by excellent grip when operating at high speed conditions. This is an excellent solution for urban conditions and roads with a hard road surface, but it is necessary to observe the direction of rotation during installation, focusing on the arrow;
Non-directional - differ in the lowest cost, budget option.
We have already considered the types of tread pattern when we talked about the predetermining factors for choosing tires for a car. There is a photo of each of them.
Tread depth.
The second factor is the depth of the tread pattern. The controllability of the car and the operating conditions depend on this factor. The deeper the pattern, the better the wet handling. The larger the tread, the lower the operating speed and the better the cross-country ability. Therefore, rubber with a large, sparse and deep tread pattern is an excellent solution - for dirt roads and off-road, and with a small and frequent pattern for high-speed driving in urban conditions and on asphalt roads. Intermediate solutions are versatile tires that can be used in a variety of conditions.
Special rain rubber or water tires are also produced. Usually summer tires intended for use in wet climates are marked with the inscriptions on them - Rain or Aqua. They allow you to reduce or prevent the effect of aquaplaning, which increases the controllability and safety of vehicle operation on wet asphalt.
The main difference from summer tires for dry weather is in additional drainage channels with sipes, as well as longitudinal grooves, which effectively drain moisture from under the tread, increasing grip on the road.
That is, the type of tread is selected depending on the climatic conditions of use. Among other selection criteria, we note the driving style and technical characteristics of the vehicle.
Dimensions.
Size is an important parameter when buying summer tires. Therefore, you need to pay attention to the recommendations that automakers give for their cars, otherwise the safety of vehicle operation will decrease.
It is also necessary to take into account the speed index, and the permissible load on one wheel. The required information is indicated in the labeling.
Manufacturer.
If we talk about manufacturers, then you can choose a budget option - summer tires of Russian or Ukrainian production, among the available tires from Korean and Chinese manufacturers. And among the well-known brands, we note Bridgestone Turanza and Potenza, GoodYear Eagle, Continental ContiSportContac, Pirelli PZero and a number of others.
Some car owners are very serious about preparing their car for the winter, including the choice of car tires for winter conditions, and this is certainly the right thing to do. Of course, it is easier to drive in the summer, but in the warm season you have to drive on different roads in different weather conditions, and the speed is higher than in winter. Therefore, in the warmer months, the wheels must be in perfect condition, providing maximum traction under all conditions.
